Lions hunt down and shut out Vipers, 6-0


Week 9: Brody Rosswurm started for the Vipers faced 24 shots and made 18 saves. Drew Baumert got the shutout and made 27 saves. 

First Period

Sam Schwartz started the game with a 10 and 2 from checking from behind at 13:18. The first period went by quickly. Colin Robison started the scoring at 2:51 with an assist from Alex Hendricks. Then, at 1:22, Benny Meyer got his second goal of the season with assists from Jackson Crawford and Jonah Haines. With 38 seconds left to go, Anthony Serafini scored to put the Lions up by three as Caden Austin and Hendricks got the helpers. 

Second Period

The Vipers’ Scully got a crosscheck at 10:48 of the second. Tyson Finefrock for the Lions would get the team’s second 10 and 2; this infraction was for charging. At 2:37, Sammy Schwartz would get a short-handed goal with Hudson Roth and Riley Murphy adding the apples. FW’s John Goodine would end the period with a slash. 

Third Period 

The frustrations that the Vipers were feeling bubbled up in the game. Eli Rinehold got an interference minor, and the Vipers bench collected an unsportsmanlike conduct at 13:25. 12:54 into the final frame, Schwartz went to the box for Leo for hooking. Riley Murphy would get the fifth goal of the contest with Robison and Jackson Reith scoring. In that same play, Robison got an unsportsmanlike conduct. The Vipers went to the box one last time as Nick Vanryn went off for roughing with 6 minutes to go. Alex Hendricks finished the goalscoring at 2:38 with assists from Schwartz and Drew Baumert! Colten Calhoun was the last man on the scoresheet as he went off for interference at 1:19.
