Carroll Charges Past Vipers, 4-0


Week 13- Carroll won their second consecutive contest by a shutout; this time, Luke VanAntwerp had the clean sheet. Brody Rosswurm made 46 saves in the losing effort. Dylan Braun scored three out of the four goals for the Chargers. 

First Period

Sam Philips took the first penalty of the game. He was sent off for a hook at 13:02. The Chargers would get a shorthanded tally on the board as Dylan Braun would get one in low glove side all alone. Braun would then score his second of the game at 8:29. He took the puck off of Simon Watson’s stick at the blue line and shot it around Brody Rosswurm’s pad to make it 2-0 Carroll. Nick VanRyn would take the first penalty of the game for the Vipers. He took a tripping call at 7:11. Viktor Wolff would put the Chargers back on the penalty kill at 4:16 for a roughing call. Carter Gnau would take a trip at 2:15, and Sam Phillips would round out the period with a high stick at 1:53. At the end of the first, Carroll was outshooting the Vipers, 14 to 3.

Second Period

AJ Baldwin was called for roughing 29 seconds into the second frame. Logan Ormsby would take a hooking call for the Vipers at 13:56. Carroll would score just as the penalty expired, Adlee Scheerer picking up the goal with assists from Colsen White and Finn Cupp. Cam Whisler was penalized for roughing at 9:57. Then, at 7:05, Will LaLonde and Mason Johnson got called for unsportsmanlike conduct. Sam Krauhs would get another penalty for the Chargers, an interference call at 2:35. Jackson Bertels would round out the period by getting a roughing call at 1:23. At the end of two, Carroll had 32 shots to the Vipers 7. 

Third Period 

The third period was primarily penalties. Taylor Pederson got a 10 and 2 for checking from behind at 14:15. Dylan Carteaux would continue the penalties for Carroll, as he would take a roughing call at 12:45. Colton Franks would respond with a trip at 11:45. Simon Watson would put the Vipers back in the penalty box with an interference at 6:45. About 40 seconds later, Mason Johnson got the second 10 and 2 of the periods, for checking from behind. Michael Scully went off for elbowing at 5:05. Dylan Braun would score a power play goal to seal the hat trick, and Carter Gnau and Colsen White had the assists. At 1:27, Harry Fiedler and Simon Watson went off for roughing and slashing, respectively. Will LaLonde finished the game with a crosscheck at 54.6. Carroll had 50 shots on net to Fort Wayne’s 13. 

 

It was Hockey Fights Cancer Night. Players got to honor members of their families and close friends. A total of $7,334.23 was raised from Raffle tickets and T-shirt sales. Players from Carroll and the Vipers and their honorees are listed below.
