Carroll One Win Away From 15-0 on the Season.

Week 14- While the game between the top two teams in the Fort Wayne League started close, the Carroll Chargers ran away with it, mowing down the Leo Lions 7-2. Luke VanAntwerp got the start in the net for Carroll as Xander Mulholland opposed him.

First Period

Taylor Pederson started off the scoring at 13:33, with Colsen White and Carter Gnau getting the helpers. Leo would retaliate quickly, with Colton Calhoun scoring a backhander off the blocker side of VanAntwerp, who went down too quickly. AJ Baldwin would take a hook at 8:12 to put Carroll on the penalty kill. However, they could not kill off the penalty, and at 7:17, Tyson Finefrock scored to make it a 2-1 game at the end of the first.

Second Period

Carroll couldn’t even wait until the first minute elapsed to return to the board. Adlee Scheerer scored at 14:07 to tie the game. Riley Murphy took a penalty for Leo at 12:27, letting Carroll’s power-play squad do some damage. Colsen White scored with assists from Dylan Braun and Finn Cupp. Dylan Carteaux would head to the penalty box at 11:23 for a trip. Dylan Braun would score a shorthanded goal at 10:58 as he pickpocketed Jonah Haines and slid the puck in the low stick side. Braun would score again shorthanded at 10:37, with Carter Gnau picking up an assist. Leo took a timeout and replaced their netminder, Xander Mullholland, with Drew Baumert. Finn Cupp got another shorthanded goal to finish off the penalty. Sam Schwartz was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct after snapping the blade off his stick and flinging the shaft towards the celebrating Chargers. Leo’s Jonah Haines would take a high stick with 2:18 left to go in the second. Chargers outshot the Lions, 33 to 9.

Third Period

Dylan Braun completed his second hat trick in two games by getting an awkward bounce and sending the puck blocker side at 12:09. Interference would be the only penalty called in the third to Hudson Roth at 10:07. Carroll had 44 shots to Leo’s 10. Drew Baumert made 20 saves, Xander Mulholland made 10, and Luke VanAntwerp made 8.
