Chargers steamroll Spartans, 5-1


Another penalty-filled game capped off the night. Cam Gnau got his first Fort Wayne High School Hockey action and faced off against Alex Dougherty and the Homestead Spartans. 

First Period

Carroll scored about five minutes in as Finn Cupp got his league-leading sixth goal of the season. Homestead would head to the penalty box as Henry Loxton would get a 10 and 2 for Boarding and Misconduct. Carroll would take advantage and ring in a power-play goal. Colsen White would continue the onslaught of goals for the Chargers and score unassisted with a minute 43 left. 

Second Period

Dylan Braun would score shorthanded for the Chargers 42 seconds into the second. The Spartans would get their second 10 and 2 of the game as Andrew Litwinko got called for Charging and Misconduct. Carroll’s Dylan Carteaux would get penalized next for interference. Homestead returned to the penalty box for a slashing infraction on Daniel Marinsky. Braun would get another goal, this time of the power play variety. 

Third Period

Daniel Marinsky would score for the Spartans 29 seconds into the final frame. The Spartans would get an elbowing call at 12:13 against Cole Strick. Carroll’s Viktor Wolff served two minutes for high sticking. Homestead would return to the box as Evan Arnold went off for hooking. At 6:10, Henry Loxton and Carter Gnau went off for incidental roughing minors. 4:10 Martinsky would get a 10 and 2 for head contact and misconduct. Evan Arnold would just be tagged with a 10-minute misconduct. The final penalties of the game were called with 3:21 left. Dylan Braun got a 10 and 2 for roughing, and Homestead’s Carson Whitaker was called for roughing.
