Carroll dominated once more after giving up first goal, won 3-1 over Vipers

Luke Vanantwerp and Brody Rosswurm got the starts for their respective clubs for the second match of the night. Vanantwerp made 18 total saves, whereas Rosswurm made 51.

First Period

Vipers struck first at 6:56. Nick Vanryn got the goal and Jackson Bertels with the assist. The only other play of the period came at the very end when Grant Knudson went off for a hook with 28.3 seconds left. Carroll finished with 16 shots and the Vipers finished with 7.

Second Period

Michael Scully laid a huge hit on a Charger and got a 5 and a game for boarding. During that five-minute penalty, Carroll scored twice. The first one was a low glove-side goal at 9:47, about a minute into the penalty. Dylan Braun got the goal, and Sam Krauhs had the helper. The second goal was shot on the top of the circle, top shelf, glove side by Davis Cline. Vipers’ Mason Johnson went off for a cross-check at 3:50. He crosschecked Adlee Scheerer- nearside post (in the trapezoid by the red line if there was a trapezoid). The Vipers were penalized in quick succession when Grant Knudson went off for a cross-check. Vipers are going back on the man’s disadvantage once more, this time with 41.2 seconds left as Jackson Bertels was called for kneeing. At the end of the second, Carroll had 42 shots, and the Vipers had 11.

Third Period

Fort Wayne Vipers killed off the 5-on-3. Carroll went on a penalty of their own as Davis Cline was called for elbowing at 12:27. Vipers were unsuccessful on the power play attempt. Carroll scored on the delayed call (elbowing on 16) at 9:30. Dylan Braun got his second of the night, top shelf off in front. Gnau got the assist. Vipers headed to the box at 8:47, Jackson Bertels with the trip. Carroll’s Braun going off at 6:22 for unsportsmanlike. The Vipers tried to pull their goaltender to get the offense going but could not find the back of the net.
