Carroll Chargers vanquish Homestead Spartans, 5-2

Luke Vanantwerp got Carroll their third win of league play in the fast-paced game between Conner Gould and the Spartans.

First Period

Carroll struck first by scoring the first two goals of the contest. Viktor Wolff would get the game started with a goal from Finn Cupp. Cupp took the puck along the near side and sent it into the slot, where Wolff scored. The Chargers would charge to a two-goal lead when Cupp scored off a feed from Carter Gnau and Wolff. The goal looked much like the first one, as it was sent into the slot before shot into the net. Carroll would take control on the scoresheet once more with a penalty to Carter Overbay for a trip.

Second Period

The second started quiet, and it took until 2:46 that Homestead could get on the board. The Spartans had Wessley Daugherty putting up his first goal in high school play with an assist from Chris Adasczik. Carroll would score around a minute later, with Cupp getting his second of the game off the same feed of Gnau and Wolff. Conner Gould made several stops but couldn’t get his glove up to catch the puck to stop Carroll from getting their third of the night.

Third Period

Carroll would take complete control of the game as Sam Krauhs scored, cycling around the net a few times before sending the puck over Gould. AJ Baldwin would head off for a roughing call, and Homestead could not score on the power play. Evan Arnold got a goal for the Spartans, and Sam Loxton and Andrew Litwinko would have the helpers off the man advantage. 42 seconds later, Viktor Wolff would put the game away, scoring in all alone, glove side.

Carroll finished with 20 shots, and Homestead ended with 17.
