Culver A Goes Back-To-Back In 4A State Finals

The Carroll Chargers tried to go back to back in two different state brackets but unfortunately fell in Double OT.

1st period

Adlee Scheerer deflected the puck from a snipe from Max Fiedler. The first period went by quite quickly.

2nd period

Culver headed off for interference but then called it. As would repeat from the first period, the second period went by without a whole lot of fanfare.

3rd period

Culver’s Adam Trumble got called for a penalty. Brody Burge almost had the game on his stick and had an amazing opportunity at 8:01. Afterwards, Finn Cupp headed to the box for a boarding call. Culver would tie the game up on the PP as the sophomore Schubert buried the rebound. Cupp had another chance of his own but was unable to score. Culver’s Adam Hagerman had a penalty in the dying moments of regulation. Carroll took their timeout.

1st OT

Carroll started with a power play. They had a 5-on-4 opportunity. In the first OT, state rules show a five minute, 4-on-4 period. They could not capitalize and the game went into a second overtime.

2nd OT

Double Overtime looks like a 10-minute period that is 3-on-3. There could be as many extra overtime periods as this until someone scores. But someone did score in this second extra frame. Sam Watson for Culver snuck behind the defence as Carroll was headed off for a line-change. He managed to shoot the right side and bury the puck.

1380’s Three Stars of The Night

  1. Carson Carteaux
  2. Sam Watson (GWG)
  3. Adlee Scheerer (Goal for Carroll)

Carroll deserves the spotlight down in State. Congratulations to all of the Chargers’ seniors Cam Drexler, Max Fiedler, Hunter Drinkall, Brody Burge, Carson Carteaux, Nick Tigner and Corbin Klenke! We look forward to seeing how this Carroll Chargers team dominates in seasons to come.
