Carroll’s Cam Gnau Shuts Out Homestead Spartans


Week 12 –The Chargers beat the Spartans by a score of 5-0 on Wednesday night. Dylan Braun got another hat trick, and Carter Gnau got four points in the evening.

First Period

Scoring would start at the end of the first period, but penalties were plentiful. Homestead’s Andrew Litwinko would initiate things off by getting a tripping call at 13:33. Carroll would get two consecutive calls as Sam Krauhs went off for interference at 11:57, and Adlee Scheerer would go for tripping at 7:09. At 5:35, Dylan Braun would go for a crosscheck, and Evan Arnold would get penalized for roughing. Cam Hurley would head off for a crosscheck at 4:02, allowing Carroll to strike first. Carter Gnau scored his 6th of the season at 2:53. Krauhs assisted the power play goal. Homestead only had one shot on net in the first, and Carroll had 11. 

Second Period

Dylan Braun would put up his first of the night at 13:59, Carter Gnau with the assist. The Chargers would get a penalty as AJ Baldwin was called for a crosscheck at 5:42. Three minutes later, Homestead’s Cole Strick went to the penalty box for a rough. Carroll would score another power-play goal as Finn Cupp would get his 7th of the season at 1:14. Carroll had almost doubled their shots, and Homestead added a pair. 

Third Period

Mason Gutmann would start things off for his Spartans in the penalty box for roughing at 12:09. Carroll could not capitalize on the power play but scored shortly after, with Braun getting his second of the night. The Chargers would get two 10 and 2s within the game’s last five minutes. Patrick LaLonde got a checking from behind call at 4:14. Also, at 4:14, Cam Hurley for the Spartans would go for a rough. Dylan Braun would complete the hattrick at 3:53 with assists from Carter Gnau and Davis Cline. Braun would then get a checking from behind penalty himself at 29.8.
