Carroll Caps Off Undefeated Regular Season

After the Fort Wayne Vipers scored two quick goals in the first frame, the Carroll Chargers answered with five unanswered to collect win number 15 of the regular season in the Fort Wayne Amature Hockey Association. Carter Gnau would net himself the hat trick in the win. Senior Ben Marques would get the start for the Vipers. Senior Carson Carteaux would get the nod for the Chargers.

The seniors for both teams had a big night. Vipers’ senior Keaton Rice opened up the scoring just a little over a minute in and slid the puck into the bottom of the net unassisted. Keegan Edwards scored his first of the season off a rebound from John Goodine. Fort Wayne would head off for an interference call. Carroll would start their onslaught of goals with a goal from the senior Hunter Drinkall. Carroll’s Finn Cupp would head to the box for a hook, and right after the penalty was about to expire, Carter Gnau scored his first of the night unassisted. Gnau would score his second of the game from Davis Cline and Dylan Braun to get the lead for the Chargers going into the second period.

2nd period

Vipers would give up a costly penalty as Logan Ormsby sat for interference. Carter Gnau would get the natural hat trick, going top shelf with Cupp for the assist. Fort Wayne would get another penalty, but it didn’t cost them a goal, as Nick Vanryn headed off for hooking. Both a Charger, Braun and a Viper, Goodine would sit for coincidental roughing calls. The Chargers would score on the 4-on-4 to bring their lead to three.

3rd period

Four more penalties would get called in the final 15 minutes as both teams would each score their final of the regular season. The Vipers opened up the last frame with an interference call for Christian Brown. Carroll’s Dylan Braun would make it to the box for a roughing call. The Vipers would be able to capitalize on this penalty as Micheal Scully scored from Logan Ormsby to make the game 3-5. The black and red would head back to the penalty box, and Jackson Bertels would get a rough. Carroll would get a rough of their own to cut their power play short as Dylan Carteaux would head to the bin. Dylan Braun made the game a 3-6 contest as he skated down the length of the ice and cut around and through all five opposing jerseys.

Ben Marques made 33 saves in the loss as Carson Carteaux had 14 saves on 17 shots.
