2/8 Carroll Wins 5-1 Over Leo

Carson Carteaux shone in goal for the Chargers and Drew Baumert got the start for the Lions.

1st period

The first period was relatively quiet with the first goal coming at 6:27 from Camden Shuherek and Dylan Braun. They pulled Baumert out of his net and since there were no purple and black defensemen, they could tuck the puck in behind. 19 seconds later, Leo’s Dylan Davis was able to net in a goal on a breakaway and tie it unassisted. Sam Krauhs was called to the penalty box for interference on the Leo goal scorer. Carroll was able to regain their momentum and knocked in a goal, on a shorthanded breakaway as Dylan Braun got credit for the goal. The Lions’ Sam Schwartz was called for a 10-minute unsportsmanlike conduct to close out the period.

2nd period

The second period mirrored the first in the quiet nature before scoring 5 minutes in. Carroll’s Sam Phillips headed to the box for a roughing call to start any action. The Chargers would then score at 7:19 in the same fashion seen by Dylan Braun, where he got an assist on Brody Burge’s tally. Leo would get a bench minor for Too Many Men and Carroll would exploit that mishap. Cupp would score his first power-play goal of the game off of a feed from Dylan Braun and Sam Krauhs. To finish off the second, Carroll’s Dylan Carteaux would go off for a roughing and Leo’s Weston Roth would get a matching roughing call but also an unsportsmanlike conduct.

3rd period

Carroll thought that they had extended their lead to 5 but the net was dislodged so no goal. Leo was called for their second bench minor of the game, this time for unsportsmanlike conduct. The Chargers would get another goal that did count, Cupp’s second power-play goal of the night, top shelf. To round out the game, Leo’s Hudson Roth got himself a roughing call and Carroll’s Dylan Braun also got a toughing. The Lions were not able to capitalize or even get out of their zone.
