Carroll Wins 13th Straight In OT Thriller Against Homestead. 


Carroll dominated again, however this time, they had to fight for it. Dylan Braun would make his comeback after about two months’ worth of absence. Carson Carteaux started in the net for the Chargers and Alex Doughtery played out of his mind for the Spartans.

1st period

Anthony Baldwin for the Chargers got on the scoresheet first with a roughing call. Broderick Burge scored the first goal of the contest off a Corbin Klenke shot from the blue line. In a fast-moving opener, Andrew Litwinko, a sophomore, managed the only other major play from the first period, a hooking call for Homestead.

2nd period

Homestead tried to tie up the game off a play that looked identical to the one that the Chargers scored from, but the referee immediately washed it out for a high stick. All of the other acts from the second were penalties. Drew Brimner for Homestead got himself a 10-minute unsportsmanlike conduct. Scheerer and Richison had offsetting roughing calls. Carroll would get the next two infractions, Nick Tigner for tripping and Davis Cline for holding. Another two penalties would occur at the same time for both teams, Broderick Burge and Evan Arnold heading off for roughing and holding respectively.

3rd period

Carter Gnau would score a rebound top shelf from Davis Cline and Finnigan Cupp to make the score 2-0 Carroll. Homestead would cut the lead in half after a goal from Gavin Elkins with assists from Christopher Adasczik and Landyn Szobody. Cole Strick and Daniel Martinsky would both head to their respective penalty boxes for Roughing and Tripping at 12:33. Homestead would score to tie the game up, an Evan Arnold feed to Andrew Litwinko. Carroll would retaliate with a goal of their own from Cam Drexler. Homestead, in the final moments of the third, would score their own goal to knot the game up 3-3 into OT.

OT

With 2:50 left to go in the overtime frame, Dylan Braun made his grand entrance, cycling from behind Carson Carteaux and down the length of the ice to score.

Carson Carteaux had 28 saves whereas Alex Doughtery had 38. Carroll rolls through with their 13th win of the season.
