‘’Photo Credit: Dan Vance‘’The SAC gets a little tougher as Sherwood Haydock is expected to take over the sidelines at Wayne. pending Fort Wayne Community School Board approval. The report came late Tuesday afternoon from Dean Pantazi of WPTA 21.

According to multiple sources, Haydock has yet to inform his current team at Woodlan of his intentions to leave the program. Coach Haydock has refused to comment on this report until everything is approved and becomes official.
Previously, Haydock had spent the past nine seasons with the Woodlan Warriors. Although the past two seasons have been a struggle, the previous three from 2015-17, Woodlan went 35-5. Not to mention, two semi-state appearances and one Class 2A State Championship game where the Warriors fell 15-14 to Southridge back in 2017.
Former Wayne coach Derrick Moore has nothing but positive things to say about Coach Haydock after seeing the report.
He hired me when I moved back to Fort Wayne from Indy. He will do well with our boys. He is one of my mentors. I have nothing but respect for him.

As most of us in the area are aware, Haydock had also spent some time at Harding High School, which included a Class 2A State Championship win back in 2006. After losing some key players from the Wayne program, Haydock has a rebuilding project on his hands, but with his 195-161 career coaching record, he’ll be ready for the task. We’ll keep an eye on this story as we wait for approval from FWCS and will likely speak with coach Haydock himself in the next couple of weeks.
